Eitan Schuler: Independent Technical Due Diligence Consultant

Background

For over five years, I was Head of Cloud Infrastructure & IT at LiveEO. I built the company's cloud infrastructure from zero, together with its internal IT, while the company grew from roughly 25 to 170 people. I set up IT governance from the ground up and led the company through ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II.

At LiveEO, I was also the primary technical contact for due diligence across five financing rounds: the seed round, Series A, Series B and both round extensions, as well as for partner reviews. I answered to the investors and to the diligence firms they hired. So I know the process from the receiving side.

Before LiveEO, I worked at Strato. Before that, I spent seven years at F5 Networks, which gave me a strong security background.

I hold a BSc in Computer Science, and I completed an Executive MBA at ESCP.

How I Work

I am independent. I have no vendor relationships, no implementation work to sell after the assessment, and no stake in the outcome of the deal.

I assess from an operator's view. I have built and run the kind of systems I review, and I look at them as someone who has had to keep them running.

I put evidence before assertion. I check claims against artefacts, not against interviews alone. Interviews show how a team describes its systems. Artefacts show how those systems actually run, so I need both.

I calibrate findings to the company's stage. What counts as a gap at Series B can be reasonable at seed, so I weigh each finding against what is reasonable for the company's stage.

I debrief both sides. The investor receives a debrief, and so does the target company, so the founders hear the findings directly and can respond to them.

I also help startups prepare for diligence. I assess the same seven domains an investor's adviser would, and help the team close the gaps that matter before a raise or an acquisition. After an investment, I work with investors on structured visibility into their portfolio companies.
